Bandpass filters in eazy-py

EAZY uses a single file do define all of the filters that are available to the redshift fitting code. This is the same file that was defined for the original EAZY code, and the most up-to-date version of the file is still distributed in the eazy-photoz repository: FILTERS.RES.latest.

This file has lines like

where N is the number of samples for a given filter bandpass, description can be anything that describes the filter and pivot is the pivot wavelength of the filter. The value of the pivot wavelength is recomputed internally, but currently the “lambda_c” text is needed to indicate the first line of a new filter. The tabulated values below the description line are wavelength w, in Angstroms, and throughput t with arbitrary units/normalization. The full FilterFile is then a concatenation of these individual bandpass definitions.

Note

Bandpasses are all now assumed to be associated with photon-counting devices (e.g., CCDs).
